| Here are possible reasons why a menu command may be gray:
File Menu
New Business File, Open Business File-- these commands are gray when a company file is already
open.
Print-- this command is available only when there is an account or transaction window open.
In other cases there is nothing to print.
Import, Export-- these commands are gray if you do not have password permission to import or export.
Edit Menu
Undo-- this command is gray if the previous action cannot be undone.
Cut, Copy, Clear-- these commands are gray if there is no text or graphics selected.
Paste-- this command is gray if there is nothing available to paste (you need to copy something first).
Delete Record-- records can't be deleted if they have "posted" or if another record refers to them.
Save Record-- this command is gray if a record has not changed since the last save.
Revert Record-- this command is gray if a record has not changed since you first opened it.
Table-- these commands are gray when a table is not selected.
View Menu
Main Account, Second Account, Job Account, Detail Transaction-- these commands only apply to some record types.
Payment Transaction-- available only after a transaction has been paid.
Deposit Transaction-- available only after a transaction has been deposited.
Options Menu
Network Preferences-- available only in the multi-user version.
Estimate Dimensions, Estimate Locations-- available only when an Estimate is in front.
Other Menu Commands
If a command is gray, it's usually because you don't have password access for that item. Sign on
with a different password that provides more access, and you'll be able to use the commands.
