Starting Balances

It won't let me type in a starting balance!

Goldenseal allows you to 'lock' the Starting Balance field in accounts. That helps prevent unexpected changes, since you usually don't need to change the starting balance after you've created each account.

To allow changes in the Starting Balance fields, follow these steps:

1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu, and choose Data Entry from the submenu.
2. Turn off the checkbox for Lock Starting Balance Fields.
3. Click OK.

HINT-- it's a good idea to turn the checkbox back on, after you have made a necessary change to a Start Balance field.
