International Dates

I want to enter dates in day/month/year, year/month/day or year/day/month order.

Goldenseal supports international date ordering, as set in the Date & Time control panel (Macintosh) or the Regional Settings control panel (Windows). You can use any of four different date orders.

  • Month-Day-Year (common in the US)
  • Day-Month-Year (common in the UK, France and some other countries)
  • Year-Month-Day (common in many European countries)
  • Year-Day-Month

Standard Dates

Goldenseal displays most dates with whatever date order that you set in the Date & Time control panel for your system.

Custom Date Formats

If you want to use a different date format on some data entry layouts, printed forms or reports, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose one of the submenus.
  2. Find the layout you want to change.
  3. Click on the date field you want to change.
  4. Choose Date & Time Format from the Format menu.
  5. To use the standard short date format, turn on the Use System Default checkbox. Otherwise turn it off, and use the fields to set the date display for that field.
  6. Enter the date format you want to use for this specific field.

Data Entry Date Format

Goldenseal also uses a separate Preferences item to interpret dates that you import or data enter. To change that, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu, and choose Data Entry from the submenu.
  2. Choose a date ordering in the Basic Date Order popup field.
  3. Click OK.

HINT-- Usually you should set the Preferences date order to be the same as your system. However you can change it temporarily if you are importing data that uses a different date order format.
