Estimating Building Corners

How do I use building corners to help calculate costs in my construction estimates?

Goldenseal includes the number of exterior corners on the Basic Dimensions screen. It also includes the number of interior room corners on the Window & Door Dimensions screen.

Entering the number of corners can help you make your estimates more accurate!

Exterior Corners

When you enter additional exterior corners for a complex project, Goldenseal increases the total cost for all of the following items:

• Exterior Wall Framing-- additional framing cost for each exterior corner
• Gutters-- corner units at each exterior corner
• Exterior Trim-- corner trim along the length of each corner
• Gargoyles-- a gargoyle at each building corner (optional)

If a project has additional building corners, you may also need to increase the length of roof hips and valleys for the project-- which will increase roof framing costs and roofing costs.

Interior Corners

When you enter additional interior corners for a complex project, Goldenseal increases the total cost for all of the following items:

• Interior Wall Framing-- additional framing cost for each interior corner
• Wallboard Installation-- additional labor at each room corner, plus corner bead at all convex "ell" corners

HINT-- We don't include unit costs for additional work to install baseboards or crown mouldings at each corner, but if you do a lot of trim, you may want to add some assemblies for that, also.
