How can I find an account quickly?

Goldenseal gives you several ways to quickly locate account records.

Find Command

The Find command lets you locate records that match values in any field. For example, to quickly find a customer account, follow these steps:

1. Choose Customers from the Accounts menu.
2. Choose Find from the Edit menu.
3. Type in any info about the account such as the name or zip code, then click the Find button.
4. Goldenseal will show you the desired account. If it shows more than one matching account, use the browser control at upper left to check all of the found records.

If you don't remember the exact name of the customer, type an asterisk and part of the name- *smith. Goldenseal will find all customer names that include that text anywhere in the name.

Cross Links

When you are in a transaction record, you can quickly see any accounts that are included in that transaction.

• Choose Main Account, Second Account or Job Account from the View menu to see those accounts.
• Double-click on a disabled (gray) clairvoyant field to see that account.
• In an active clairvoyant field, click on the popup button and choose View This Account from the bottom of the menu.

You can also use cross links to view details for any list, and for other transaction records that are linked to this one.

Reports

You can use reports as a "register view" to scan for a specific account. For example to see a list of all customers, follow these steps:

1. Choose Accounts from the Reports menu, and choose Customer List from the submenu.
2. Ccick the Update button.
3. You'll see all customers in a list. If you double-click on a customer's row it will open the data entry window for that account.
4. Click the Sort button to sort the table into any order.
