Extra Payroll Deductions or Exemptions

Problem

using exemptions to change the amount of withholding for state and federal payroll taxes for some employees
extra amount deducted from paycheck by MacNail Construction Payroll Software

Diagnosis

wants to deduct extra state or federal withholding taxes for some employees

Solution

for federal-- use Employee Index, and either adjust the # of exemptions, or type in an extra amount to be withheld
for state-- use Employee Index, and change the number of exemptions
E.I. is not needed if state and fed exemptions are the same for all employees
a negative exemption CAN be used to withhold more than usual
