Estimating Cost Difference

Problem

big difference between Hyper Estimate and MacNail Estimate results when importing from Hyper Estimator to MacNail construction estimating software

Diagnosis

•it will normally be 10-20% less in MacNail the first time you transfer, before special items are added
• locality and quality fudge factors are not used in MacNail. If you want to have HE match McN, make sure they are set to 1.0 in the HyperEstimator.

Solution

If that doesn't answer the user's question, look at specific items.

Is it a difference in everything? Suspect a fudge or locality factor.

Is it in just one place-- check the specifics.
