Excel worksheet used in MacNail construction software becomes READ ONLY after a bomb, crash, unexpected quit

Diagnosis

You can't type into the worksheet anywhere!. It says read only in name or somewhere obvious (at least on DOS computer).

Solution

1. open the file
2. use save as to save it under a different name
3. close it
4. trash the first (read only) copy, rename the copy to the original name
5. open it

Comments

Vinay says it sometimes happens when your computer bombs. Excel tries to save but saves as text.
NOT the same situation as when get "locked cells cannot be changed" message---that's fixed by choosing Unprotect from Options.
