File has Disappeared

PRoblem

Files 'disappeared' from MacNail construction estimating software or accounting software. It was just here a minute ago, and now it has vanished!

Diagnosis

Try Find File DA (syst 6) or File menu Find (syst 7). If found, hunky dory. If not, hope they have backups!
If available via find file but not visible on desktop, try view by Name instead of Icon.

Also if in MacNail itself, try the Unhide command to show a file window that is hidden.

Solution

System 7-- install System 7 Tuneup (see dealer or user group)
Files that actually disappear may be symptom of SERIOUS hard disk problems (especially if >1 year since last initialized hard disk).

Comments

Stress BACKUP of all files ASAP, and checkup of hard disk directories etcetera--Find a guru? Try MacTools or SUM/Norton?
HINT: if view is by icon, have them switch to 'view by name'. Easier to find things!
