Getting DOS version, RAM size

How to get DOS version number while using MacNail construction accounting software?
How to get amount of RAM memory.

Diagnosis

Memory or weird problems, need to get DOS version or amount of RAM in computer.

Solution

Exit Windows, by choosing Exit from the File menu until Program Mgr and File Mgr are closed (or open the Main Window in Program Manager, and double-click on DOS Prompt icon). Then, at DOS prompt, type ver and hit return. That will return the version of DOS currently running. Or type mem to get available RAM memory.

NOTE: To return to windows, type EXIT (if you double-clicked on DOS Prompt icon) or type WIN (if you exited Windows completely).
As of this writing, latest DOS version is 6.2.

NOTE-- Newer Win version are better at hiding DOS roots. Click Start button, choose Programs-- Accessories-- System Tools-- System Info to see Windows version and available memory.
