Frequent Freezes or Crashes

PRoblem

many hangs, freezes or crashes in MacNail construction software- Macintosh System 6 and System 7

Diagnosis

• If just one program acting up---replace that program with one from original floppy.
• “about the Finder” under the Apple menu

Solution

Are they using RamDoubler or DiskDoubler? TRY TURNING THEM OFF.
Try restarting with shift key down (to turn off Extensions). If that fixes the problem, it's probably a conflict with an Extension or Control Panel device

Comments

• ADVICE: don’t run Public Domain programs on a hard disk unless they have a good reputation. Some games (especially PD games) are sloppy and can damage the disk
