Type 11 Errors

PRoblem

type 11 bomb, crash, hang, system error in Excel while using MacNail construction management software
seems to happen mainly in SpecWriter and Cost Control (with Misc Logs), and mostly on the original PPC chips.

Diagnosis

big mystery problem. Not just a problem with Excel apparently. Seems to happen most often with XL 5.
According to Apple it's reportedly a problem in PPC emulation code. However no consistent repairs have been found yet.

Solution

According to MS, getting system update 7.5.1 fixes this. However at least one user reports that the problem still occurs.
6/20/95 big article in MacWeek about the problem. Still mystery. Mainly in PPC 7100 and 8100. Reset PRAM? Reinstall software? Redo EXcel Pref file? Update disk driver? Remove RAM Doubler? Rebuild desktop? Remove battery? Reinstall system. Disable Modern Memory Manager?
