Switching Macintosh to Windows

PRoblem

switching from Mac version to DOS Windows version (for vice versa, click here).
moving macnail files from one computer to another

Diagnosis

to switch macnail from Mac to DOS or vice versa, first install the complete copy of MacNail construction management software on the new computer, with all folders, blanks, etc etc.
The only thing they need to move is data files (estimates, ledgers, etc etc)

Solution

1. Save each file as SYLK using Mac XL (use Save As, hit Options button). NOTE: newer versions of XL do not need to be saved as SYLK. Check the manual???
2. Rename each file to corresponding DOS file name**.
3. Initialize a DOS disk on DOS machine.
4. Insert floppy into Mac.
5. Use Apple File Exchange to put files onto DOS disk.
6. Insert floppy into DOS machine.
7. Use File Manager to put each file into appropriate folder.
8. Open file with DOS XL. Newer XL's will ask to save in normal format at first save-- say yes.

** NOTE: Rename 1995 Ledger as 1995.LGR, for example. Check the DOS manual for proper suffixes.
