CRC Error

installing, loading, dos files - crc error while trying to install MacNail construction management software

Diagnosis

CRC stands for cyclic redundancy check - it's a pkzip error.

We called them. If the CRC fails they say it can be due to one of the following things:
1) Bad device driver when creating the MacNail construction software installer file
2) Strange autoexec.bat of config.sys settings when extracting - try rebooting without those operational.
3) floppy disk controller failure when extracting
4) Bad disk
5) Bad mem. chip
6) "cache flaw" - bad cache.
7) The drive alignment between the creation and user drives may be off- this usually results in a "disk failure" message.

Solution

Try rebooting w/out autoexec.bat or config.sys - then installing.
Send a new disk.

NOTE-- These problems disappeared when we switched from PKZip to WinZip installer.
