Can't Find Sample Files

PROBLEM

error message "sample labor log could not be found" when Labor Log is selected from the McN menu, or during cost control posting, if 'main files' is used. Also applies to ledger, or other type of logs in MacNail Construction Accounting Software.

DIAGNOSIS

First, check their XL version. If they just switched to XL 5 or newer, it's due to that. See TA 375.
If not, then 'main' file has not been set properly

SOLUTION

Use the MacNail *Open File... command to open the desired file, then use *Make This a Main File from the Format menu.
If this doesn't work, folder layout may be screwed up- check folders in Finder. All logs and ledgers should be in Current Accounts folder

NOTE: if they re-install Managers, the 'main files' will go back to the way they were when it shipped, e.g. all 'sample' files. That is the most common reason for getting this error message.

ALSO NOTE: The Accounting Manager and Cost Control Manager store 'main' file names separately. If they say they 'already set main files', it's probably that they did it on MacNail Accounting mgr. but not cost control.
