Reconcile gives Bad Value Row 3

PROBLEM

*reconcile ledger not working- gives "Bad value in row 3" always.

DIAGNOSIS

see reconcile checklist for discussion of what might be causing this.

If none of those things work, check the name of the ledger that's being reconciled: it should NOT have a single-quote (apostrophe) in it. E.g., the name "TCL Ledger '94 " will break *Reconcile.

Caused by a very weird Excel quirk.

SOLUTION

Change the file name in MacNail Construction Accounting Software.
