Problem
Can't add a Category as
a subcategory in a Category
System in Goldenseal accounting software
Diagnosis
They're in a Cat system trying to add a cost category
in the subcategory table (or the category table, for that matter),
and it doesn't show up.
Check the following:
1. Does the category even exist? Click the Edit Categories button to see if it's in the list.
2. If so, open
the category. Does it have Main Category Only in the Location popup field?
3. If not, they are probably already using that category somewhere else in the category system.
Solution
1. Need to add it.
2. Change Location, and they'll be able to add it.
3. Sometimes people want the same subcat in several categories (e.g. setup or cleanup under several items).
They'll need to create several categories to do that. Goldenseal can't use the same category in more than
one place, or it will get confused when posting job costs.
