Problem
bottom line seems wrong- numbers not right, numbers shifted to wrong place
Diagnosis
user reports that bottom line # for category doesn't
match what's in category card; no matter what they do
to the cat card, the btm line either shows zero or
a wrong # in the BidMagic Construction Estimating Software.
in every case I've handled, the user had another bid running at the same time. In Win3.1, choose
Switch To; in Win95 or 98, look at the task bar at the bottom. Either way, make sure to activate and close down all
other bids.
Solution
1. check to make sure only 1 copy of bid is open now. If >1, close all and re-open one.
2. go to Basic Costs and change a wage rate, then recalc; change the wage rate back to what it was,
then recalc. This will force a recalculation of the bottom line and a genuine update of all categories.
3. If that doesn't work, they'll need to make an archive and import that back in (see manual, pages
70-71)
COMMENTS
(For any categories which are set up as flat fee, go to that card and change the flat fee and then
back again to recalc it. Or change from flat fee to labor & mat, add an item, recalc, then back to flat fee and
recalc.
Long-term solution: the program uses many global variables, and although
Tbk documentation says that each bid has its own copy of globals, this is
evidently not the case! So stress to them that they need to stick to just one bid open at a time! DO NOT
use Windows to open another bid- instead, choose Open from the File menu.
