Installed and Disappeared

Problem

They installed a file on the Mac, but it disappeared!

Diagnosis

They say they dragged it onto their computer, but when they eject the CD it is not there any more!

Solution

Most likely they dragged it onto the Macintosh desktop. They need to drag it onto the hard drive icon instead so it's really copied there. This may require some explaining about icons, desktop etc.

This is not usually a problem in Windows since the file is just copied to the hard drive when they drag a file to the desktop.

One other explanation is that they may have accidentally dropped the file into a folder (especially if dragging it into List view). If that seems possible, use Sherlock to find the Goldenseal accounting software file by name.
