Bad Value in Financial Report

Problem

Gives 'bad value' message in financial reports in Goldenseal accounting software.

Diagnosis

hey do balance sheet or some other report that shows calculated fields.
The fields say 'bad value'.
Ask if they made a company file from scratch, rather than use a starter file. If so, use solution #1. If not and just one bad value, use solution #2. If many bad values, use solution #1.

Solution

To get report values, they need to have calculators.
1. If they are just starting, it might be easiest to start over and begin with a starter file. Otherwise they'll need to import from a starter file (see below)
2. If just one value is bad, they probably deleted the calculator. Delete the bad field from the layout, then create a new calculator. Or import as in #1.

To import 'starter' calculators, follow these steps:
1. Quit from Goldenseal.
2. Open Goldenseal, and open one of the starter files (in Starter Files folder).
3. Choose Export from the File menu. Choose Entire Company file (or Other Items, All Calculators) from the submenu. Enter a file name and location (remember them!) then click Save.
4. Quit from Goldenseal.
5. Open Goldenseal, and open the company file they are using.
6. Choose Import from the FIle menu. Choose Entire Company File from the submenu. Find the file from step 3, then click Open.
