Estimating Price Categories

Working With Price Categories

Every price in the BidMagic construction estimating software belongs to a material price category. For example, the price for a microwave is stored in the appliance price category. The name of the current category is displayed at the top of the Material Manager window, in the Price Category pop-up.

Price categories allow you to group materials into convenient 'chunks', so the lists of materials aren't too long.
Creating a Category

To create a new material category for the current material, follow these steps:
1. Choose New Category from the Edit menu.
2. You will be asked for a name for the new category. Type in a name, then click OK.
3. A new category will be added with the name you typed in. The current material will automatically be included under the new category.

Renaming A Category

To rename the current category in the BidMagic construction estimating software, choose Rename Category from the Edit menu. You will be asked to type in a new name for the current category. Enter any name you wish, then click OK. The new name will then be displayed in the category pop-up.

Deleting a Category

To delete a category from the BidMagic construction estimating software, simply remove all the materials in it, or move them to different categories. When the last item is removed, the category will no longer be displayed.
