Saving Estimating Templates

Step Four--Save BidMagic as a Template

Once the BidMagic construction estimating software is hitting 'on the nose' for old jobs, you can feel confident that it will come very close on future jobs as well. To use it for future jobs, start by turning it into a template. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. If you want to use the existing file as a template, skip to the next step. To work on a copy so you still have the original version intact, choose Save As from the File menu, and save the file under a new name.
  2. Choose Preferences from the Navigate menu, and make sure 'Save this File as a Template' is turned on.
  3. Choose Clear Dimensions from the Bid menu. All the project information on the Dimensions cards will be erased, so you'll be starting with a clean slate for future bids.
  4. Choose Lock Dimensions from the Bid menu. Suggested quantities will now be used for each project dimension.
  5. Choose Lock Specifications from the Bid menu. Suggested quantities will now be used for all Specifications.

If you want to include everything currently in Specifications in all future projects, you are now finished. If you want a completely clean slate in Specifications, choose Clear Specifications from the Bid menu--all items in all Specifications cards will be completely removed. If you want to include just some of the items in Specifications, check each Specs card individually, and remove whatever items you do not want to be automatically included in future projects.

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program.
